Art Closet

I love organization. My husband will tell you that I am not organized, and I think he is crazy out of his mind for saying this. I ask you, who with less organization could run the schedules of this house, the animals, prepare wholesome meals, keep up the laundry, and all the other things I do around here? I am pretty darn organized. It is a personality trait that I appreciate about myself.

I have the wrapping paper box; complete with scissors, mailing envelopes, postal boxes, and tape. I have bins under the bathroom sink for hair, nails, and makeup. I have canning shelves in the garage, complete with a canning journal that details recipes and the details of the day. I have a yearly gardening journal with drawn out gardens, garden tags, and comments about what grew well and what didn't.

I prefer order and lists and organized chaos. This leads me to my secret love: the Art Closet. I love almost everything about it. I appreciate how stocked it is, I like the variety of paints we have, I enjoy looking at it and knowing where something is in a few seconds. The only thing that would make it better would be new shelving paper and a labeler. But, hey, who has time for a labeler? I have to draw my neurosis somewhere.

I think the Art Closet is supposed to be part of the laundry room, but I have made those five shelves into crafty heaven. I am in no ways crafty, but I do want the kids to have access and the ability to make projects and a masterpiece or two along the way. Paints and glue on the top shelf, playdoh/craft projects/scissors on second shelf, school work/craft books/stickers on third, then paper/old magazines/glitz like glitter glue and sequins, and the last shelf holds coloring books/markers/crayons...the shelf with the most accessibility.

Anywho, I had a few spare minutes and noticed that my nirvana had turned into chaos. The kids and I spent an hour sorting supplies, throwing out old markers, and creating a new Valentine's bin in the closet. Pictured above is before and after~I hope you can see a difference.
