The birthday celebrations keep coming! We had family over to celebrate Kate (Leah's family, Meri, and Brian) with a make your own pizza dinner party. I set out three sauces, sun dried tomatoes, greek olives, pineapple, feta cheese, mozzarella, buffalo mozzarella slices, black olives, fresh arugula, roasted garlic, fresh tomatoes, fresh mushrooms, red and green peppers, sausage, canadian bacon, vegan chorizo, and pepperoni. It was truly a pizza smorgasboard!
Leah's family hadn't ever made their own pizzas so we all laughed when Leah's pizza was in the shape of a mountain and not a flat plane. Lauren made a minimalist pie and Meri's was precise, with little bits of toppings carefully spaced apart. Our kids chose black olives, red sauce, and sausage on theirs. Georgia ate her tomatoes on the side. Mine was delicious and consisted of pesto sauce, kalamata olives, roasted garlic, red peppers, sliced mozzarella, and fresh arugula on top.
Kate requested another chocolate cake so I made her one using a different recipe. Brian kindly brought an apple tart that was delicious! We paired both desserts with vanilla ice cream and ate until we were stuffed!
Another great party with wonderful friends and fantastic company. After each party, I feel so fortunate to have this group of people in our lives. Brian and Leah cleaned the kitchen, my mom helped with the kids and food, and Meri came with her sewing kit to sew together Theo's torn blanket.
We are very, very, blessed.
