Tractor Service

A few weeks ago Georgia and Theo's teacher mentioned how she was worried if it snowed and was looking for someone to come and plow the school driveway. I offhandedly offered Jon's services with our tractor, being that we live only a mile away from the school, and she said that she would keep us in mind.

It snowed, she called, and Jon and I spent three hours clearing snow, chopping up tree limbs, and stacking wood. Jon did more than the bulk of it, but I provided the lights and shoveled the walkway. Not to mention the eye candy and comic relief. I was also the safety car who drove behind Jon and the 3 mph tractor on the 35 mph road. Thankfully we only had to drive for 1/4 of a mile on that road!

Their teacher called and asked for Jon to bill her. I felt awkward about this, unsure of what the going rate was, and asked her just to give us a discount on our tuition. Honestly, Jon and I felt that it was a kind thing to do and help with at the kids' school. We would love a tuition credit but were satisfied that we spent three hours at the school being helpful and of service.

Today I dropped the children off at school and she gave us a bottle of champagne, fresh tulips, and a check that more than covered Theo's tuition for next month. What a pleasant surprise~I feel so appreciative of her thoughtfulness and it felt great helping the school out!
