We lost an apple tree in the ice and snow storm. The bountiful tree that brought the kids and horses much appreciated fresh fruit this past fall. We were sorry to see it down but I realized that it could serve another purpose~tree blocks!
I have been wanting tree blocks for the past 2-3 years. Basically, they are blocks in their natural shapes with their bark still attached. I appreciate the rustic feel of them and find them appealing on many levels.
Unfortunately, they are expensive. Usually around $75 for a decent set that has been rubbed with beeswax. The cheapest I can find them is for a 30 piece set for $45. Anyway, the apple tree will live on in blocks, making them that much more meaningful.
I am thinking that they will make a fine second birthday present for our littlest man!
